The kick-off meeting of the Erasmus+ KA220-HED project titled DILDENT – Developing Dental Treatment Protocol Practice Skills of Dentistry Undergraduates through Digital Interactive Education, funded by the European Union, was held on 31 May – 1 June 2025 and hosted by Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University (ZBEU).
The meeting brought together representatives from the coordinating institution ZBEU, as well as from Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University (ÇOMÜ), Università degli Studi di Brescia (Italy), Università degli Studi di Palermo (Italy), Universitat de València (Spain), and MELLIS Educational Technologies (Turkey).
During the two-day event, the project’s overall objectives, partner responsibilities, work packages, and implementation timeline were discussed in detail. The DILDENT project aims to enhance dental education by integrating digital and interactive learning environments into treatment protocol training. The system to be developed will incorporate gamification, augmented reality (AR), and immersive learning technologies, and will be designed as open-source and freely accessible to dental students worldwide.
Academic participants in the meeting included Prof. Dr. Emre Bodrumlu and Prof. Dr. Ebru Hazar Bodrumlu (ZBEU), Prof. Dr. İlgi Tosun, Dr. Cumali Yaşar, Dr. Merve Erdoğan, and Dr. Tülay Dargut Güler (ÇOMÜ), Prof. Dr. Corrado Paganelli (UNIBS), Dr. Salvo Nigliaccio (UNIPA), Prof. Dr. Maria Melo Almiñana (UV), and Caner Anda and Elif Anda (MELLIS).
As part of the social program of the kick-off meeting, the project team visited Zonguldak Mining Museum, Gökgöl Cave, and Fener District, expressing their admiration for the university campus as well as the historical and natural beauty of the city.
Through its focus on digital transformation in education, the DILDENT project aims to both enhance the practical skills of dentistry students and contribute to improving the quality of dental education across Europe.
